Do you need healthcare? Do you want to know if the PCFC would be the right place for you?
The Portland Community Free Clinic provides comprehensive primary healthcare to adults in the Greater Portland area who:
- Are between the ages of 18 and 64;
- Have no regular doctor;
- Have no private insurance, MaineCare, Medicare, or Veteran’s medical benefits;
- Have a stable housing situation; and
- Are low income.
To determine if you qualify for care at the PCFC, call 207-874-8982 between 9 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, or 9 am to noon on Friday. A staff member will do an intake with you on the phone and determine your eligibility for our services. If you qualify, an appointment will be made for you at that time.
All clinic visits are by appointment only and are scheduled Monday through Thursday evenings from 6 pm to 8 pm, and Thursday afternoons from 1 pm to 3 pm. Volunteer doctors, nurse practitioners, and nurses provide care during clinic appointments. Office visits are free.
The PCFC works closely with Mercy Hospital and other healthcare specialists to arrange needed tests or procedures. All patients are required to submit an application to Mercy’s billing office for uncompensated care–we will provide you with this application at your first visit. Depending on income, costs for these services may be free or billed on a sliding scale with a small co-pay.
Our definition of low income is that a person can have wages/salary up to 250% of the federal poverty level (FPL). The actual amount varies depending on the number of people supported (size of family). This chart provides the specific figures we use as a guideline to determine eligibility.
Our patients live in the following cities and towns: Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Brunswick, Buxton, Cape Elizabeth, Casco, Cumberland, Falmouth, Freeport, Gorham, Gray, New Gloucester, North Yarmouth, Pownal, Scarborough, Standish, Windham, Raymond, and Yarmouth.
